2015 Lexus LS
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2015 Lexus LS Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Downtown Fallbrook has a few gated HOA communities tucked behind the main streets, and one afternoon I got a call from a resident whose 2015 Lexus LS was sitting inside the gates with a key that had stopped communicating with the vehicle.

The fob would do nothing: no lock, no unlock, nothing from the door handle sensors, and a key-not-detected warning on the dash. He had already called a tow company, and the tow company had already been turned away because commercial vehicles needed advance approval from the HOA board to enter the property.

He called me next, a little skeptical that a mobile locksmith was going to solve what he assumed needed a dealer visit.

I drove in behind a resident who was heading through the gate on their way home. His LS was sitting in his driveway exactly where he left it.

I opened the fob on the hood of my van while he watched. The CR1632 inside was the original, and the voltage had dropped enough to keep it from reliably talking to the vehicle. Fresh battery, cleaned the contacts, reseated everything. It woke the fob right back up.

We tested every button, both door handle sensors, and verified the start function before I packed up. The car never moved. No tow, no HOA paperwork for a flatbed, no dealer appointment. He saved a significant chunk compared to what the dealer had quoted him for a full key replacement the last time this came up.

Sometimes the answer is smaller than the situation makes it feel.
