2013 Lexus LS Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call from a woman up in Mt. Helix, the hillside part of La Mesa where the streets wind and the houses sit back behind big oak trees.
She was older, had lived in that house a long time, and she told me up front that her late husband had always taken care of anything to do with the cars. She had one working fob for her 2013 Lexus LS and she wanted a spare before she ended up stranded.
Getting to a Lexus dealer was not a small thing for her. The nearest one is a freeway drive she said she had not done in years. She was not complaining about it, just stating the reality.
I drove up there that morning and set up in her driveway. The LS was in good shape, clearly well cared for. I connected my diagnostic equipment through the OBD port, verified the existing fob was registering cleanly, and added the new fob to the system. Cut the emergency insert blade to match, tested every function -- door handles, trunk, start authorization -- and walked her through the fob before I left.
She had both keys before I packed up. The whole visit was under an hour. She mentioned the dealer had quoted her an amount that made her hesitant, plus the appointment wait and the drive. The drive was the part she kept coming back to.
I did not need to say much. She held both fobs and that was the whole conversation.
