2014 Lexus LS
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2014 Lexus LS Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a medical office garage in the Seacoast neighborhood of Imperial Beach on a Tuesday afternoon. The owner had a 2014 Lexus LS, and the fob had cracked at the hinge where the key blade tucks in. She could feel the blade shifting every time she pulled it. One more day and it was going to snap clean off inside the door lock.

She was a doctor. Patients back to back until six. She had zero time for a tow, a dealer appointment, and a waiting room that wasn't hers.

I drove to the parking garage and met her during a fifteen-minute gap between appointments. The fob housing was cracked through, blade loose, and the internal battery contact had taken some damage from the flex. I sourced the replacement fob from the stock I keep in the van, used the diagnostic port to register the new key to the vehicle security system, and verified every function before she walked back inside.

She had two working keys by the time her next patient was in the chair. Her car never left the garage. She saved a good chunk compared to what the dealer would have quoted, and that's before you factor in the tow bill and half a workday gone.

The job itself was about thirty minutes. The part the dealer can't offer is the part where your car stays exactly where you parked it.
