2011 Lexus LS Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A guy in East Lemon Grove got back from a week-long business trip, walked out to the airport premium lot, and his 2011 Lexus LS just sat there. Pressed the fob, nothing.
Tried holding it against the start button the way the manual says to do when the battery is low. Still nothing. The fob was completely dead and the car was not picking up even the passive signal from the backup coil position.
He called the dealer first. Earliest available was Thursday. It was Tuesday afternoon. A tow from that lot was going to be a real number on top of the wait. He found me online and called.
I was there in about 35 minutes. Got the door open using the mechanical key inside the fob, connected my equipment, and checked the registration status. His key was still enrolled in the system, no corruption, just a dead fob battery that had taken the communication down with it. The diagnostic showed a stored communication fault that the car's backup procedure had not cleared on its own.
CR1632 swap, contact cleaning, fault clear, full function test on all four buttons including the trunk release, and a walk around both door handles to confirm touch unlock was responding the way it should. Done in about 20 minutes.
He drove home that same afternoon. The dealer comparison came up on its own when he called to cancel Thursday's appointment.
