2020 Lexus LS Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A body shop over in Bayside, Imperial Beach called me on a Thursday afternoon. They had a 2020 Lexus LS sitting in the lot after a collision repair. The shop had brought in another locksmith to sort out a replacement smart key before the owner picked it up. That locksmith hit an error mid-programming, couldn't clear it, and left.
Now the system was in a locked fault state. No fob would register. The car would crank but the immobilizer was blocking it from running. The body shop was stuck between an unhappy customer and a car that wasn't going anywhere.
I brought the ACDP bench tool. I pulled the security module, connected it directly, read the memory, and located the fault state that the previous attempt had written in. Cleared it. Rebuilt the key registration data from scratch. Then I programmed the new fob, which carries the factory FCC ID on the label, as a clean first registration rather than an add-a-key on top of corrupted data.
The system took it without any argument.
Then I walked every function before I handed anything over. Passive lock detection at each door, the start button, the mechanical backup blade inside the fob. Everything confirmed. I showed the shop's service writer exactly what the previous attempt had done wrong, specifically that the tool had timed out and written a partial record instead of completing or rolling back cleanly.
Total time was about ninety minutes. The body shop called the owner, and the car was ready same day. The alternative was a flatbed to the Lexus dealer, a multi-day queue, and a bill that nobody at that shop wanted to explain to the customer. I don't bring bench tools on every call, but for the LS, I bring them every time.
