1999 Nissan Altima Metal Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Got a call from someone over on the Dictionary Hill side of Spring Valley. 1999 Nissan Altima sitting in a driveway, owner had one key left and it had seen better days. The bow was cracked, the blade was worn thin enough that it was skipping tumblers. Worked maybe seven times out of ten, and the three failures were getting more frequent.
He had already called around. One shop wanted him to come in. A dealer visit came up in conversation and he laughed a little, said he had checked what they would want just out of curiosity.
I pulled up in the service van and took a look at what was left of the original key. Enough there to decode the blade. Cut a fresh replacement right on site, tested it in the door lock and the ignition, confirmed the tumblers were reading the cut cleanly. Smooth cycle, no hesitation.
The whole thing wrapped up while he stood in the driveway. No tow, no waiting room, no appointment booked out three days. Just a working key handed back in about fifteen minutes.
He asked what would have happened if he had waited until the original stopped working entirely. I told him we could still decode the lock cylinder directly and get him a key from that. Either way, it gets solved on site.
