2005 Nissan Altima Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A mobile dog groomer called me from the car wash vacuum area in Downtown National City. She'd lost her only key for her 2005 Altima somewhere between a client's yard and her last stop, and she'd already called the Nissan dealer. They told her to book an appointment, come in, and plan on leaving the car. Days out. She wasn't having it.
Her grooming gear was locked in the trunk. She had jobs booked the next morning.
I showed up that evening. The Altima is a full all-keys-lost job when there's nothing to copy from, which means the immobilizer has to be cleared and the new key enrolled from scratch using the vehicle's security data pulled through the OBD port. I worked from the driver's side with the programming equipment on the seat, ran the procedure, and cut the new remote head key to match her lock cylinder.
Before I handed it over, I walked through every function: the blade in the ignition, then lock, unlock, and trunk release on the remote. Everything confirmed. She was loading equipment within the hour.
She mentioned what the dealer quoted her. It was a lot more than what she paid me, and that was before factoring in the tow, the days of waiting, and the borrowed ride she'd have needed. The car never moved off that lot. Neither did her grooming schedule.
