If lock, unlock, and the other remote functions all respond normally but the vehicle won't recognize the fob for starting, the remote transmitter and the immobilizer are operating on separate circuits. The fob talking to the door locks doesn't mean the immobilizer is reading the fob correctly.

First thing to try: hold the fob directly against the start button when pressing it. There's a backup low-frequency reader built into the button area for situations where the main antenna is struggling. If that gets the car started, you've isolated the problem to the antenna side, not the fob itself. If nothing works, that's a diagnostic job, not just a key replacement.
