2000 Subaru Forester Remote Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A resident of the Coronado Shores towers called me on a Saturday afternoon. He had a working key but wanted a spare, and the way he said it told me the whole story: he had already lost a key once before and was not doing that again.
His 2000 Forester was parked in the building's garage, right down by the water. Good. No tow required, no trail access problem. Just the car, me, and the job.
He handed me the original fob and the key. The blade was worn to the point I could see it had been through a few years of hard use. I decoded the cuts, pulled a blank, and cut a replacement key to match. Then I programmed the remote side so the new fob would communicate with the car.
He stood there and watched the whole thing. When the locks cycled on the first button press, he nodded like a man filing something away in his memory.
He mentioned his Subaru dealer was across the bridge in San Diego, that they had quoted him a couple of days and asked him to call back Monday to check parts availability. I finished in the parking garage on a Saturday.
