2022 Subaru Forester Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
It was a Saturday night in Old Town National City. A couple came out of a sushi spot on the main drag and their 2022 Subaru Forester just sat there. Push-button start, nothing. Fob wasn't waking the doors, the button on the dash wasn't responding. They figured they were stuck until Monday.
They called me around 9pm. I was already in National City.
When I pulled up, the first thing I asked was whether they'd tried the backup start method, holding the fob body directly to the start button. They hadn't heard of it. We tried it, and the car made an attempt but died on the security handshake, which told me the fob battery was critically low but the programming inside was intact. That's a different problem than a dead fob.
Fresh CR2032, correct contact tension inside the housing, and then we ran through every function: door lock, unlock, rear gate, and the start itself. Everything came back on the first try.
They didn't need a replacement key programmed. They didn't need to wait until a dealer opened. Just the right diagnosis, the right part already in my van, and fifteen minutes of actual work. The dealer conversation never really came up, and it didn't need to.
