2007 Subaru Forester Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a text from someone in La Mesa Village on a Tuesday afternoon. He had been hiking and came back to his 2007 Forester in a parking lot off a side street near the Village with no key. Gone somewhere on the trail. He had a spare at home but home was not close, and he was not about to leave the car.
He dropped me a pin. I loaded up for the Forester and drove out to him.
When I got there he was sitting on a curb next to the car, looking at his phone. The Forester just sat there, locked, doing nothing wrong, waiting on a key it had no reason to expect.
I decoded the lock mechanically, cut a replacement key blade to match his vehicle, then programmed the transponder chip to the immobilizer on site. The whole thing happened in that parking lot, no tow, no dealer appointment, no waiting on a part to arrive by VIN order.
He turned the key, engine came up, no stall. He sat there for a second like he expected it to change its mind.
The dealer route would have meant a tow, a parts order, a return appointment, and a wait measured in days. What I charged was a fraction of that, and the car never left the block.
