Out in Richland, a Tacoma owner called me on a Tuesday afternoon. She had been dealing with an intermittent problem for about two weeks. The door handle would not always respond when she touched it, and once she was inside, she occasionally got a key-not-detected warning on the dash. The truck would still start most of the time, but that warning was making her nervous enough to start pricing a replacement at the dealer.

Fresh CR2032, contact straightened, fob snapped back together. Walked all four doors, tested the handle touch-unlock on each one, ran the lock and unlock buttons, and confirmed the dash warning was gone with the truck running. That was it. She did not need a new fob at all.
She saved a good chunk compared to what the dealer wanted, and she did not have to figure out how to get the truck there during a workday or arrange a ride back to the office afterward. Thirty minutes in a parking structure solved what two weeks of stress had not.
