A mom had dropped her kid off at the elementary school and walked back to her 2023 Tacoma and got nothing. The fob was in her hand, she touched the door handle, and the truck sat there like she was a stranger. No click, no lights, no response from the push-button start once she got inside. We swapped the CR2450 on site. I keep them stocked because this fob size comes up often enough on Toyotas that running out is not an option. Fresh battery seated, contacts cleaned, and her range came right back. Tested all four buttons, walked the door handles, confirmed the push-button start was reading the fob from a normal distance.

She was back on the road before her parking meter would have expired. The dealer was still on hold music somewhere.
