2003 BMW M3
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2003 BMW M3 Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A Heritage Valley guy called me around 3am on a weeknight. His 2003 BMW M3 was sitting in the driveway, and his only fob had stopped working. No response on any of the three buttons. He'd already swapped the CR2032 in the dark using his phone flashlight, which I respect. Battery wasn't the issue.

He figured he was waiting until morning, then calling a tow, then sitting at a dealer. That whole chain. I told him to stay put.

I pulled up to Heritage Valley with my kit and connected to the OBD port. The immobilizer module still had his original key registered -- the fob just wasn't communicating anymore. I programmed a new remote head key, synced it to the module, cut the blade to his vehicle, and walked every function. Lock, unlock, all three buttons, blade in the door cylinder. Everything confirmed.

He stood there in his driveway at 11pm watching the whole thing happen on a residential street and said something like "that's it?" That's the reaction I get a lot on BMWs from this era. People expect a flatbed and a week at the shop. What they get is me on their street late at night.

The dealer route would have meant a tow, a morning appointment, and a bill that would make your eyes water. He paid a fraction of that and was back inside by 4am.
