2021 Cadillac CT5 Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A driver from Sea Air called me on a weekday afternoon. His 2021 CT5 was sitting in a lot and the fob had stopped responding. Not intermittent, just dead. No lock, no unlock, nothing. He'd already tried clicking it closer to the door handle, which never works but everyone tries it once.
I pulled up and the first thing I did was open the fob. The CR2450 inside tested low, almost nothing left in it. Swapped it out right there on the trunk lid. Fob came back to life, full range, all five buttons responding.
We tested everything: lock, unlock, and the remaining buttons, walking around the car to check range from different angles. The vehicle security system recognized the fob without any re-pairing needed because the fob itself had never lost its programming, just its power source.
He'd already called a dealer earlier that day. They told him to bring it in and quoted him a wait. The battery took about four minutes to swap. He was back on the road before we'd finished talking through what happened. Saved a good chunk compared to what the dealer route was going to cost him, and he didn't have to leave the car overnight.
Sometimes it really is just the battery. But you still have to verify everything works after, and that part matters.
