2019 Cadillac XT4 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Over in the College area of Ventura, I got a call from a guy who ran a dental practice out of a medical building with a shared garage.
He had a 2019 Cadillac XT4, and the fob housing had cracked along the seam where the emergency blade releases. The blade itself was still functional, but just barely, and the fob's lock and unlock buttons were getting flaky because the crack had let the housing flex enough to unseat the battery contact.
He had already called the Cadillac dealer. They wanted him to bring the car in, schedule an appointment, and plan on being without it for at least a day. He was between patients. The car was sitting in the garage three floors down. That conversation was not going to go anywhere useful.
I drove to the building, parked outside, and he met me at the garage during a gap in his schedule. I opened the fob, cleaned the contacts, verified the battery seating, and then ran a full button check. The fob itself was salvageable for range, but the housing crack was not going to hold. So I built a new key on site, programmed the replacement through the OBD port, and handed him two working smart keys before he walked back upstairs.
He was back at his desk in under 40 minutes. The dealer conversation had already taken longer than the actual job.
