Guy in Juanamaria neighborhood had his 2022 XT4 throw the "No Remote Detected" message right in his driveway. Engine running, A/C on, and he couldn't shift out of park.
The HYQ2ES fob in his hand looked perfect. Fresh CR2032 from last month. But the car acted like the key didn't exist. He killed the engine, tried again, same problem. The dash kept showing that message like it was stuck on repeat.
I pulled up and checked his key first. Battery tested 2.8V, which seems fine until you know these need 3.0V minimum to transmit properly. The contact points had that white residue that comes with cheap batteries. Swapped in a quality CR2032, cleaned the contacts, and tested signal strength at 315MHz. Strong pulse, clean transmission.
Started right up. No error. Shifted fine. But I wasn't done. Cycled the ignition ten times, walked the perimeter testing range, made sure the passive entry worked on all four doors. These BCMs can be picky about signal strength.
He mentioned the dealer quoted two days minimum because they had three XT4s ahead of him with "electrical gremlins." Fixed in his driveway in 20 minutes for way less than whatever overnight adventure they had planned.
