Second, the fob housing itself. The 5-button XT4 fob has a relatively thin housing and the internal circuit board can develop a hairline flex point if the fob has been dropped or sat on repeatedly. The battery looks fine, the car just cannot read it consistently.

Third, antenna-side issues. The XT4 has multiple receive antennas positioned around the cabin and exterior. If detection is inconsistent only in certain spots, like the driver handle works but the car won't see the fob from the center console, that points toward an antenna or wiring issue rather than the fob itself.

If the problem is intermittent and the battery is good, bring the fob in before assuming you need a full replacement. Sometimes it is a quicker fix than you think.
