2022 Cadillac XT4 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A guy came out to his XT4 parked near Thille/Montalvo the morning after Thanksgiving, pressed the door handle, and nothing happened. No unlock, no response, no sound.
He tried the start button and got a key-not-detected warning on the dash. His daughter lives in the neighborhood and he was visiting for the holiday. He had one key, it was the only one, and he had a drive back to the valley ahead of him.
He called me before he called the dealer, which was the right move on a holiday weekend.
I got there with my van. He handed me the fob and I opened it right on the hood. The CR2032 inside looked new but was sitting just slightly off-angle, not making clean contact on one terminal. That small gap was enough. I seated it correctly, snapped the housing shut, and the XT4 responded immediately.
We did a quick walk anyway. Touch unlock on both front handles, start button, all five buttons on the fob. Everything checked out. He did not need a new key. He did not need a dealer appointment.
The dealer angle came up naturally. He mentioned his daughter had been quoted a significant amount just to have the dealership look at it, and that was before any parts or programming. He was out of my driveway in under twenty minutes, holiday weekend, no tow, no wait.
He left with the number saved. Said he'd call before going to the dealer from now on.
