A trade school student in Downtown Oxnard called me from his girlfriend's place. He was upfront: another locksmith had already tried to program a key to his 2010 Dodge Avenger, failed mid-procedure, and left the Wireless Ignition Node in a confused state. Then charged him for the attempt and told him to call the dealer.

I plugged my Autel IM608 into the OBD-II port and read the WIN module. Stack of DTCs, including a B2204 (Transponder Programming Failure) and the module sitting in a half-learned limbo. The previous tech had forced a Fobik procedure that doesn't apply to this platform. The 2010 Avenger uses the OHT692427AA remote head key with a Philips Hitag2 (PCF7941) transponder chip, and the programming sequence is specific to the JS-body Sentry Key system.
I cleared the codes, confirmed the WIN was back to baseline, then ran the correct key learning routine. Showed him the screen when it came back with "Key Learned Successfully" so he could see it himself.
Car started clean. No warning lights, remote lock and unlock on all five buttons.
He kept thanking me, but honestly, cleaning up a botched job is just part of the work. The dealer quoted him something significantly higher and a week-long wait. I was done in about 40 minutes at his girlfriend's curb.
