2015 GMC Terrain
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2015 GMC Terrain Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I was up on the Mesa on a Tuesday afternoon, parked outside one of those older ranch-style homes with the canyon view in the back. The owner had called about a 2015 Terrain - not a lost key situation, just a spare he kept meaning to get made and never did until he watched his wife drive away with the only copy.

He met me at the truck in the driveway. The original fob was in decent shape but the blade pivot had that familiar slop to it, the kind that develops after a few years of daily folding. He mentioned the remote had been getting flaky at distance too.

I decoded the blade profile off his existing key, cut a new blade on my machine, and fitted it into a new fob shell with the blade pivot torqued properly so it locks solid when open. Connected to the OBD port, ran the programming sequence to register the new fob to the vehicle's security system, and tested the ignition with the new key. Came up clean first try.

Then I went through every button on both fobs, the original and the new one, standing at the end of the driveway to check range. Both performed the same. He asked if the dealer could have done this in his driveway. They cannot - they would have had the Terrain towed in or driven in, written it up, and called him two days later.

He had a working spare in under forty minutes. That is the whole story.
