A loan officer at a bank over on Milpas Street called me about her 2015 Terrain one afternoon. She had not lost her key. She just wanted a spare made before she was down to only one, which is smarter than most people think to be.
She asked if she could watch and have me explain each step as I went. I said sure.
I decoded her door lock with my HU100 Lishi tool, read the cuts, and brought the data back to my mobile station. Cut the blade on a Strattec 5912545 blank. Seated the PK3+ transponder chip in the flip key head, then connected my IM608 to the OBD port under the dash.
The security access handshake on these GMs talks directly to the BCM. Once it authenticates, I registered the new key's transponder ID and programmed the OHT01060512 remote, all five buttons including remote start. Her Terrain accepted it clean on the first pass.
Then testing. Lock, unlock, trunk release, panic, remote start from about 30 feet away. Turned the engine over three times with the new key. No theft deterrent light, no crank-no-start.
She stood there watching the whole thing and said it seemed routine. It is routine. Took me about 35 minutes from pulling up to handing her the finished key. The dealer wanted her to leave the car for two days and come back. She did not have to leave anything or go anywhere.
