2020 GMC Terrain
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2020 GMC Terrain Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Out in Via Marina, I got a call from a landscaping crew supervisor who was running two 2020 Terrains off one key. His guys had been doing a handoff with the single fob every morning for months. One truck sat until the other crew finished and drove back to swap it. He was bleeding labor hours every week over a key.

He had already called the dealer. They quoted him a number per key that made him pause, then told him to bring each truck in on separate days. Separate trips meant either a tow or a crew member burning half a workday driving to the service lane instead of running a job. He said no and found me instead.

I showed up to his yard before his guys shipped out. Both Terrains, same year, same fob type. I worked through both vehicles back to back, programmed fresh fobs for each through the OBD port, cut both blades, and tested every button and every door handle on each truck. The old shared fob stayed enrolled on one truck, the new keys each went to their own vehicle so there was no more sharing.

He watched the whole thing from a folding chair with a coffee. By the time his crew was loading equipment, both trucks had their own keys and everything worked. He paid a fraction of what the dealer quoted per key, for both vehicles combined, and he got it done in one visit.

The crew left on time that morning. That was the whole point.
