2005 Jeep Cherokee Remote head key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A recently divorced dad at the taco shop in Camarillo had just bought a used 2005 Jeep Cherokee from a small lot. Good vehicle, fair price, one key. The lot told him to get a spare on his own. He figured that would be simple and cheap. The Jeep dealer corrected that assumption in a hurry.

They wanted 395 for a spare remote head key. He was already stretching his budget. He found EZ Car Keyz online and asked me if the dealer price was normal. I told him it was, but I do the same job for around 185.

I met him at the taco shop before he finished eating. His key uses FCC ID OHT692427AA, which tells me the exact remote frequency, button configuration, and chip type the vehicle expects. I matched the blank, cut the blade, and used my VVDI2 to clone the transponder data from his existing key onto a fresh blank so the Jeep accepted it without a full reprogram.

His spare works identical to the original. Lock, unlock, start, all 4 buttons. He drove away with two working keys, and that second key means if one ever disappears, the next replacement is a quick add-a-key instead of all-keys-lost, which saves even more down the line.
