Saturday morning in Camarillo, near the Spanish Hills neighborhood. A bakery owner had set up her booth at the farmers market, walked back to her 2010 Jeep Cherokee, and got nothing. Dead buttons, no passive entry, push-to-start just sitting there with "Key Not Found" on the dash. Dealer was closed until Monday. Her product was on the table. Her truck was a brick.

First thing I did was pop her fob open on the hood. The CR2032 was toast, voltage way below threshold. But swapping in a fresh cell didn't bring the fob back. The transponder signal was gone, that Hitag2 handshake between the fob and the WIN module just wasn't happening. Battery had been dying slowly and the chip data got corrupted along the way.
I pulled a blank IYZ-C01C from my stock, programmed a fresh Hitag2 transponder with my VVDI Key Tool, and registered the new fob through OBD to her WIN (Wireless Ignition Node). Tested all six buttons: lock, unlock, hatch, remote start, panic, and the passive entry on both front doors. Everything talked.
She went back to selling pastries and drove home that afternoon. The whole job took less time than her first batch of croissants took to sell. A dealer visit would have meant Monday at the earliest, probably longer, and a lot more money.
