A property manager in College Park called about her 2024 Cherokee. The proximity detection had been acting up for weeks, then quit completely that morning.
She'd already tried the obvious fix: new CR2450 battery from the corner store. Still nothing. The Cherokee sat there throwing "Key FOB Not Detected" on the dash while she held the fob against the start button like the manual says. Her office keys were locked inside.

I popped open her 2BAHD-KFW1 fob and found the problem: generic battery with voltage reading 2.8V instead of 3.0V, plus corrosion on the negative contact.
Clean contacts, proper Panasonic CR2450, and the Cherokee woke right up. Proximity detection worked from 10 feet away. All five buttons tested clean. The whole fix took maybe 15 minutes in her parking spot.
She asked what the dealer would have done. Probably diagnosed it as a bad RF Hub Module and quoted her north of $500 for parts and labor. Sometimes the small fix is the right fix.
