Got a call from a guy out in Rancho Sierra Vista, Thousand Oaks. He ran an avocado operation and his 2013 Jeep Cherokee was down to one FOBIK that was falling apart. The plastic shell had cracked along the seam, the lock button was mushy, and the panic button would fire randomly in his pocket. He'd been nursing it for months.
He called the Jeep dealer. Over an hour each way, plus they wanted the vehicle there most of the day. During harvest, pulling a ranch truck off property for that long was a non-starter.
I drove out and worked on it right at the grove. His Cherokee runs the IYZ-C01C FOBIK with the Y159 keyway, same Chrysler SKIM/46 chip setup you see across most of the FCA lineup from that era. I used my VVDI2 to clone the transponder data off his beat-up original, cut a fresh Y159 blade, and built the whole thing into a new six-button shell with a fresh CR2032.
Then I programmed a second FOBIK as a true spare so he wasn't back in the same one-key situation. Tested both at the ignition, cycled all six buttons, checked lock and unlock range from the property gate.
Two working FOBIKs before I packed up. He saved a full day off the ranch and a good chunk of money compared to the dealer route. For a guy mid-harvest, that mattered more than anything.
