2004 Jeep Cherokee
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2004 Jeep Cherokee Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A plumber out of Sterling Hills called me one weekday morning before his first service call. He had a 2004 Jeep Cherokee and his only key had started acting up -- sometimes it fired right up, other times the engine would turn over and then cut out like someone pulled a fuse. He knew enough to know that wasn't a battery problem.

He'd already called the Jeep dealer. They quoted him a number that made him pause, told him to bring the vehicle in, and gave him a two-hour window. He runs back-to-back jobs. Two hours at a dealer, plus a possible tow if the key quit entirely, wasn't something his schedule could absorb.

I met him in the carport before his first appointment. His key was original, worn at the bow, and the transponder read was coming in weak. I decoded the blade at the vehicle, cut a new key, and programmed the transponder chip through the OBD port. The whole job was done before he had his work boots on.

He drove to his first call on time. The dealer comparison was an afterthought -- he mentioned it once, laughed at the difference, and that was it.
