2012 Jeep Cherokee Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
An X-ray tech working nights at the urgent care clinic off Las Posas in Camarillo's Mission Oaks neighborhood called me just past midnight on a Monday. Her shift was done, the employee lot was empty, and her 2012 Jeep Cherokee would not start. Push the button, nothing. Dash just read "Key Fob Not Detected." She had already swapped the CR2032. The fob itself had failed.

I pulled into the lot before 1 AM. Connected my Smart Pro to the OBD port, accessed the WIN (Wireless Ignition Node) module through the security gateway, and ran the proximity key learning procedure. Her replacement was the IYZ-C01C, the 6-button smart key with lock, unlock, remote start, hatch, and panic. Programmed it, then erased the dead fob so it could never start the car if it turned up somewhere.
Tested every button while she sat in the passenger seat watching the doors cycle. Then I walked her through the backup start method, holding the dead fob against the start button, in case she ever got another weak battery surprise.
She drove home 35 minutes after the call. The dealer would have had her waiting four more days, and for a good chunk more money. She just needed it handled that night, and it was.
