The surfboard shaper's shop sits right off Pleasant Valley Road in Oxnard, where the industrial buildings meet the fields. His 2022 Cherokee sat dead in the lot, dashboard flashing "Key Fob Not Detected" every time he pressed the start button.
He'd already tried the obvious moves. New CR2032 battery. Different fob positions. Even held it against the start button like the manual says. Nothing.
I plugged into the OBD port and ran a quick module scan. The RF Hub was talking, just not recognizing his M3N-40821302 fob anymore. These 2022s use a secured gateway that locks out aftermarket scan tools, but my AutoProPAD G2 Turbo handles the security handshake.
The reprogram sequence took about 20 minutes. Most of that was the system running its own internal checks. I had him press the brake and hit the start button with each fob to verify both were back online. The Cherokee fired right up, no error messages.
He mentioned the dealer wanted him to drop it off for three days. Something about ordering parts and waiting for their master tech. I finished before his next client showed up for a board fitting.
