2018 Jeep Cherokee Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call from a paralegal working out of the courthouse area in Thousand Oaks on a Thursday morning. She had depositions back to back and her 2018 Jeep Cherokee fob housing had cracked.
The key blade insert was starting to separate from the body of the fob. She couldn't leave, couldn't arrange a tow on a courthouse schedule, and couldn't push it to the weekend and hope for the best.
I drove to the parking garage during her lunch recess.
First thing I did was decode the door lock cylinder to verify her blade cuts before building anything new. Then I built out a replacement fob with a fresh shell, confirmed the factory fob ID matched what the Cherokee was expecting, and programmed through the OBD port. All five buttons came online on the first test. I walked every door, checked both handle touch zones, and ran the fob through its full range from across the parking aisle.
She came out after lunch, picked up the new key off my workbox, and walked back into the building.
She mentioned the dealer quote almost as an aside, the way people do when they've already moved on. Tow plus the appointment plus the key itself. A chunk of money and half a day she didn't have. The Jeep never left its parking spot.
