2008 Jeep Cherokee Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A woman parked in one of the surface lots near Old Town Camarillo called me on a Tuesday afternoon. Her 2008 Jeep Cherokee remote head key had been getting flaky for a couple weeks.
She figured it was the battery, swapped a fresh CR2032 herself, and it helped for about three days. Then it stopped locking the doors from any distance. Then it stopped unlocking. By the time she called me, she was manually unlocking with the key blade every time and the fob was basically a keychain weight.
I met her in the lot. She had her one working key with her, so this was still an add-a-key situation, which is the cleaner job. I opened the fob to check her original before anything else. The battery was fine, seated correctly. The issue was in the fob itself, not the cell. She needed a replacement fob cut and programmed, not a battery fix.
I cut the key blade to her vehicle on site, then ran the programming through the OBD port. The whole job was done before she finished the iced coffee she had walked out of the cafe with. Both fobs working, all six buttons confirmed on both, ignition starts clean.
She mentioned the dealer had been her first call. They told her to bring the Jeep in, said they could get her in later that week, and gave her a number that made her pause. Then she looked up mobile options and found me. She saved a good chunk and never had to arrange a ride or sit in a waiting room.
