A classic car collector out in the Newbury Park area of Thousand Oaks had a 2000 Lincoln LS sitting in a storage facility. He collects older Lincolns, but he figured anything with PATS was locked behind dealer-only software. Some old forum thread had confirmed it for him.

There wasn't one. The PATS module doesn't care if the key comes from a Lincoln service bay or a storage unit in Newbury Park. It reads the chip, the code matches, the car starts.
He mentioned the dealer had quoted him a weekday appointment plus a tow. This took one visit, no tow, for a fraction of what they wanted.
