Got a call from a woman in the Lynn Ranch neighborhood in Thousand Oaks. She had a 2002 Lincoln LS sitting in her driveway, one key left, and the blade was worn down so badly it barely turned the ignition cylinder. She'd been jiggling it for weeks.

Then I connected my Smart Pro to the OBD-II port under the dash, accessed the PATS module, and programmed the new transponder chip. The 2002 LS with PATS II lets you add a key when you already have two working ones through a simple on-board procedure, but she only had one. So it needed the diagnostic route. Security timer ran about ten minutes.
She turned the new key, the theft light went solid for a second and then off. Engine fired clean. The whole visit was maybe 40 minutes. She kept the old key as a backup in a drawer, which I told her was smart.
