2005 Lincoln LS
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

Q: How fast can you get to my location in the Oaks Mall Area?

Most calls in Thousand Oaks, I'm there within 30 minutes. When you call, I confirm the year, make, model, and key type so I'm loading the right blanks and tools before I leave. For the 2005 LS specifically, I carry what I need on the van already. Lincoln owners who go the dealer route regularly report waiting a week or more just for an appointment. I treat every call as same-day work.

Q: Can I get a key made today?

Yes. I carry the blanks and programming equipment for the 2005 Lincoln LS on every service call. Nothing gets ordered and shipped. No appointment next week. You call, I confirm your vehicle details, and I come to you. The Oaks Mall Area is well within my regular coverage in Thousand Oaks, so same-day turnaround is the standard, not the exception.

Q: My 2005 Lincoln LS starts fine but the remote buttons stopped working. Do I need a whole new key?

Not necessarily. On a remote head key, the transponder that starts the car and the remote that operates the locks are two separate functions sharing one housing. If the car starts but the buttons are dead, try a fresh CR2032 first. These batteries lose voltage gradually, and the radio frequency side of the key tends to fail before the ignition side does, so a car that starts fine can still have a completely dead remote.

Q: I bought a replacement remote head key online for my 2005 LS. Can I program it myself?

No. The 2005 Lincoln LS does not have an onboard self-programming sequence for this key type. Pairing it requires a scan tool capable of accessing the vehicle security system through the OBD port. If you already bought the key, that's fine. Bring it, or I'll bring a compatible blank. Either way, the programming step still requires the right equipment on site.

2005 Lincoln LS Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A graphic designer called me from a hillside street in the Oaks Mall Area of Thousand Oaks. Narrow road, steep grade, no turnout.

His 2005 Lincoln LS was parked right where it always was, and it wasn't going anywhere because he had no working key. A flatbed driver had already turned around rather than deal with the grade. The dealer told him he needed to get the car to them first. That loop had no exit.

I parked at the bottom and walked up with my bag.

The LS is a vehicle I know well. I decoded the lock, cut the blade to match, and programmed the new remote head key through the OBD port on site. The whole thing happened on a hillside with a pretty good view of the valley.

His car never moved. The dealer quote came up in conversation at the end, almost as an aside. He saved a good chunk, but honestly what mattered more to him was that he didn't have to figure out how to get a car with no key down a one-lane hill first.

Lincoln LS Mobile Service FAQ

Real costs, no dealer surprises

How long does a 2005 Lincoln LS key replacement take?▼

If you have a working key and just need a spare, the cut and program typically runs 20 to 30 minutes once I'm on site. All-keys-lost takes longer. The passive anti-theft system on this generation enforces a timed security cycle during the programming process, so you're looking at closer to 45 to 60 minutes for the programming portion alone.
