Got called out to the Telephone Road commercial area for a CX-90 owner who'd just moved from Portland. One key, needed a spare before his wife flew in.
The 2024 CX-90 was sitting outside a medical office. Brand new, maybe 2,000 miles on it. He'd already called the dealer - they wanted him to drop it off for two days because "the tech who does the new keys is booked." Plus whatever they were charging.
I pulled up with my IM608 already updated for the 2024 models. These new Mazdas need the BCM put into learning mode through the OBD port. No shortcuts. The WAZSKE11D01 took about eight minutes to register after I cut the emergency blade on my Condor XC-Mini.
The interesting part: while waiting for the key to sync, he mentioned his Portland dealer warned him about aftermarket keys "not working right" on the CX-90. Except I was using the exact same BCYA-67-5DY part number Mazda uses. Same Hitag AES chip. Same four-button layout.
Tested all functions - lock, unlock, panic, rear hatch. Started the engine three times to verify the immobilizer accepted it. He had his spare in under 30 minutes total, right there in the parking lot.
