Probably not the key. The electronic steering lock module (ESL) on W215/C215 cars is a known failure point. Mercedes issued TSB LI07.00-P-046489 related to ESL motor failures on this platform. When the ESL jams, the steering column stays locked mechanically even though the EIS accepts the key signal. Wiggling the steering wheel while turning the key sometimes frees it temporarily, but if it keeps happening, the ESL motor is dying. That is a separate repair from the key itself, but I can diagnose whether the problem is your key, the EIS, or the ESL on site so you know exactly what you are dealing with before spending money.
