Got a call from the Mountain View neighborhood in Fillmore. A 2013 Mercedes-Benz CL-Class sitting in a driveway with zero working keys. The owner had already called the dealer and got the standard rundown: tow it in, leave it for three to five days, and the parts department would order the blank separately.

I pulled up, connected to the OBD port, and started working through the EIS/EZS module. The CL-Class runs NEC-based security on the Electronic Ignition Switch, so the process involves reading the EIS data, preparing the new key chip to match, then cutting the blade on my portable machine right there on the hood. No existing key needed. The 5WK47283 board gets paired to the vehicle so the immobilizer sees it as factory.

The part that took the longest was the key cutting itself, getting the HU64 profile right on the first pass. Programming was smooth. Cycled the ignition, tested all four buttons on the remote, confirmed the trunk release worked from the back, and let it idle for a minute to make sure nothing threw a fault.

Total time from when I parked to when he had a working key in his hand was about 35 minutes. He kept looking at the key like he expected a catch. There was not one.
