Got a call from a guy along the Calle Real corridor in Goleta. His 2009 CL550 had zero working keys. His last one fell out of a jacket pocket somewhere between his car and a restaurant patio, and that was it.

He had already called the dealer. They told him the car would need to be towed in, and the EIS/EZS module, the N73 board on the W216, would need to be read and matched. Then wait for a key to come in. He said they quoted him a timeline that made him go quiet on the phone.

I drove out, set up on the spot. Read the EIS through the OBD port, pulled the key data from the NEC chip, and wrote the new 5WK47283 remote head key to an open slot. Cut the HU64 blade to factory spec right there on his hood. The old lost key got erased from the system so it is dead if someone finds it.

After programming, I tested every button, cycled the ignition twice, confirmed no immobilizer fault codes on the dash. The IR signal from the fob was hitting the EIS receiver clean.

He stood there turning the key over in his hand like he did not trust it yet. Then he started the car, heard it catch, and just nodded slowly. That was the whole reaction.

Took about 40 minutes total. He kept the car right where it was parked.
