Got a call from the RiverPark neighborhood in Oxnard. Guy had a 2010 SL550 and a 2018 GLC in the driveway, both needing keys. His wife's purse was stolen and half the household keys went with it.
The SL was the priority. R230 chassis, FBS3 system, EIS module with the motorized steering lock. I pulled the existing key data through the OBD port, read the EIS, and matched the ISM (Intelligent Servo Module) so the new Chrome Key would talk to both the immobilizer and the steering column. Cut the HU64 blade on site to factory spec. Programmed the infrared transponder, tested all four buttons on the IYZ-3312, and ran the Keyless-Go walk-away lock. Solid.
Then I moved over to the GLC. Different generation, different protocol, but same visit. Both cars done back to back on their own driveway.
The part that stuck with me was the guy standing between both cars watching the SL start clean on the first crank. He said he had already called the dealer in Encino and was told the SL alone would need to be towed in, and the appointment was three weeks out. Something about the key center queue and case processing delays.
Two cars, one visit, same afternoon. He kept the tow truck money in his pocket.
