Got a call from Heritage Square in Oxnard on a Monday afternoon. Guy had a 2011 SL550, the R230 hardtop convertible, sitting in his driveway with one working key left. The other one had been dropped in a parking lot weeks ago and never turned up.

I erased the lost key so nobody could walk up and start his car with it, then cut the new blade to his lock data and wrote the transponder to the EIS.
Tested the remote, all four buttons. Tested the ignition cycle twice. Walked around and hit lock and unlock from different angles because range matters on a car that sits low like this.
The whole thing took about 25 minutes. He stood there holding both keys like he was weighing them, old one versus new one.
He saved a good chunk over what the dealer quoted, and he did not have to wait half a month for a single car key.
