2004 Oldsmobile Bravada Remote Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out in Mandalay Beach, a guy waved me down from his driveway before I even parked. He had the fob in his hand already, doing that thing where you click it way too many times in a row like the car is going to change its mind on click thirty.
The 2004 Bravada started fine, he said. The ignition key worked. But the fob had been dead for weeks, he kept putting off the battery swap, and now a fresh CR2032 he put in that morning still had not fixed it. Range was basically zero. Standing right next to the door, maybe a foot away, and nothing.
He figured the fob was just gone. Thought he was looking at a full replacement.
I opened it up, seated the new CR2032 properly because it had been dropped in a little tilted, and cleaned the contacts. Then I ran the pairing sequence to resync it to the vehicle. That is the part a lot of people do not know. On these GMT platform trucks from this era, a full battery drain can knock the fob out of sync. The car does not stop recognizing the ignition key, but the remote portion loses its registration.
Tested all three buttons, checked the range from the end of the driveway, locked and unlocked from across the street. Everything came back.
He had already gotten a quote. Said the dealer told him he needed a new fob and it would take a few days to order. I did the whole job in his driveway in about twenty minutes, and he paid a fraction of what they wanted.
