2013 Porsche Cayman Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out near Rincon Beach Park in Carpinteria, a guy had his 2013 Cayman parked in a gravel lot next to a winery tasting room. He was there early for a distributor meeting. The blade turned in the ignition, dash lit up, but nothing happened. Center display read "No Valid Key Detected." The immobilizer was rejecting the transponder.
He called the Porsche dealer first. Earliest opening was the following week. Then he found me. I was about 40 minutes out.
His KR55WK50138 flip key looked fine from the outside. Five buttons, HU66 blade, CR2032 still had voltage. I popped the fob open on the hood and found the problem: a hairline crack on the antenna coil near the ID46 transponder chip. The coil was making contact sometimes, not others. Classic intermittent failure that gets worse with heat and vibration.
I used the Smart Pro to pull the immobilizer PIN through OBD, then wrote fresh transponder data to a new Hitag2 chip and paired it to his BCM. Cut a new HU66 blade to match, tested remote lock, unlock, trunk, panic, and the frunk release. Engine fired on the first turn.
He stood there for a second watching the tach settle at idle, like he was waiting for it to stall again. It did not.
He made his meetings. The whole job happened in the same gravel lot where the car had been sitting dead.
