2014 Porsche Cayman
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2014 Porsche Cayman Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

There is a small independent Porsche shop in Carpinteria that calls me when things go sideways. Good guys, serious about their work. They had a 2014 Cayman in the bay one afternoon, suspension apart, customer due back in a few hours. One key had come in with the car. Somewhere between the lift and the toolbox, it went through a floor drain grate and was gone.

The shop owner called me, not panicked but definitely focused. I was already in the area near Sandyland Cove and told him I could be there in twenty minutes.

The job itself went clean. I connected through the OBD port, pulled up the immobilizer, and registered a new key to the car's security system. Cut the blade to the vehicle, seated it into the new fob housing, and walked through every button to confirm the remote functions were live. Then the important part: I had the shop owner start the car himself with the new key. When the engine turned over without a complaint from the dash, that was the confirmation we both needed.

His customer picked up on time. The car was done, the key worked, and nobody had to explain to a Cayman owner why their car was sitting at a dealer for three days waiting on a key order. The shop looked good. That is the whole job sometimes.
