2023 Subaru Crosstrek Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I was parked near the RiverPark shopping area wrapping up another job when a call came in from a grad student over in the apartment complex off Village at the Park Drive.
His only key for a 2023 Subaru Crosstrek had been cracking at the blade pivot for a while, and that morning he finally felt it flex in a way that made him stop turning it. He wasn't locked out yet, but he knew he was close.
He'd already called the dealer. They told him to bring it in or tow it in, quoted him a number that made him pause, and gave him a booking window that was over a week out. He found me while he was still on hold waiting to confirm the appointment.
I told him I was maybe ten minutes away and to stay put.
When I got there, the key was bad enough that the blade had started to separate at the housing. He'd been babying it for two weeks. I decoded the lock on-site and cut a fresh key blade to match, then ran the programming through the OBD port with my equipment. The remote functions and the ignition both tested clean. The whole thing was done before he'd finished the coffee he'd poured when I pulled up.
He mentioned the dealer quote on the way out and I just nodded. Same result, no tow, no week-long wait, done in a visitor parking spot. That's the job.
