Got a call from a woman near the Fillmore Historical Museum who needed a spare key for her 2004 Volvo C70 convertible. She'd been running on one key for a couple years and finally got nervous about it.

Because she had a working key in hand, I went straight through the OBD port with my VVDI2. No pulling the CEM, no bench work, no soldering. The tool read her immobilizer data, I registered the new transponder, cut the blade to code, and programmed all five remote buttons. From parking to handing her a tested spare was about 22 minutes.
She clicked the lock button a few times like she was making sure it was real. Then she just put it in her purse and said "that's it?" and walked back inside.
If she had lost that last key, the job would have been a completely different animal. All-keys-lost on a P2 Volvo means pulling the CEM module from behind the glove box, reading the EEPROM data off the board with a bench programmer, and writing new key data back.
