It was a Saturday evening, and I was already running a job near North Fillmore when a call came in from a couple stuck outside a wine bar. Their 2005 Volvo C70 convertible was sitting in the lot, completely unresponsive to the fob. No lock, no unlock, nothing. Fresh battery, confirmed the contacts were sitting flush, then ran the resync procedure using my diagnostic equipment right there in the parking lot. The module picked it up on the first pass. Tested all five buttons, confirmed the car started and idled normally, walked around the car before closing out.
They drove home that night. The dealer would have meant leaving the C70 in that lot until Monday, then a wait for an appointment slot on top of that. Having the right cell and the right tools in the van means a Saturday night call gets handled like any other job.
