2007 Volvo C70 Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I was parked off Steckel Drive in the East Area 2 part of Santa Paula when the owner of a 2007 C70 walked up carrying two fobs. One was cracked at the blade hinge. The other was a spare she had picked up online.
She had been using the cracked one held together with a rubber band. The spare from the internet had never worked. She assumed both needed programming and figured she was in for a long afternoon.
I popped the cracked shell open first. The circuit board was fine, just dirty contacts from a slow leak where the blade pivot meets the housing. Cleaned it up, fresh CR2032, and it clicked back together solidly. Tested all five buttons from across the parking lot. Everything responded.
The online spare was a different story. Unregistered, never touched the car's system. I connected to the OBD port, pulled up the immobilizer data through the body control module, and enrolled the second fob while the first one stayed active. Both registered, both tested clean.
She drove away with two working keys for the first time in probably two years. The dealer quote she had gotten a few weeks earlier was for a single key and was a number she described as "not happening." What she paid me was a fraction of that, and she left with two keys instead of one.
The testing is what I don't skip. Every button, both fobs, three starts, remote range walk. Takes an extra few minutes and it's how I know the job is actually done.
