2022 Lexus RX Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
She was already in the parking lot when she called. Real estate agent, 8am, office complex off the main drag in the Richland area of San Marcos. Showing at 9. Her RX had been sitting overnight and when she walked up and touched the door handle, nothing happened.
Push-button start would not respond either. She still had the backup metal key inside the fob, which got her into the car, but the engine would not go.
I was there in under 30 minutes. While she stood on the phone rescheduling a coffee appointment to buy herself a few minutes, I connected to the diagnostic port and pulled what the vehicle was actually seeing. The fob was registering, but the signal was too weak to pass the security handshake. Battery was the original factory cell, low enough that the system was rejecting it as unreliable rather than dead-flat.
Swapped the CR2032, cleared the fault, confirmed the re-registration took, and walked every function: door handles, lock, unlock, the start button. Everything responded.
She made the showing. From her first call to engine running was about 45 minutes total, and most of that was me driving to her. The dealer would have meant a tow and rescheduling clients. That math alone made the call worth it before I even mentioned price.
