A woman had a 2014 BMW X3 sitting in her driveway and a fob that had gone completely dark. No lock response, no unlock, nothing. She'd already put in a new CR2032 from the drugstore, so she wasn't calling me about a battery. She was calling because she'd already been burned.

Walked every button, checked the touch unlock on both door handles, confirmed the start function.
She watched the whole thing from her porch. When both fobs were working clean, she said she didn't realize it could be done right there in the driveway in under an hour.
The dealer had quoted her a wait of several days and a number that made her pause. She saved a good chunk and didn't have to leave El Rio.
