2010 Cadillac DTS
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

Q: How fast can you get to Village at the Park in Camarillo?

Depends on the schedule when you call, but I'll give you a straight arrival window on the phone, not a four-hour service range. I'm mobile and already running jobs in the area most days. That's usually faster than waiting for roadside assistance to route a contractor to you and then explain the situation to someone who may or may not have the right tools for a 2010 DTS.

Q: Can I get a replacement key made today?

In most cases, yes. I carry key blanks, a cutting machine, and GM-compatible programming tools in the service van. For the 2010 DTS specifically, the transponder key blank for this generation is a well-established part that I stock. As long as the schedule lines up when you call, I can be at your location in Camarillo, cut the key, program the chip, and have it tested the same day.

Q: My 2010 DTS starts fine sometimes, but other times it cranks and won't fire. Could this be a key or immobilizer issue?

It can be. On this generation, intermittent no-start with normal cranking is a known pattern when the transponder signal is inconsistent. The chip in the key head can develop a hairline crack from years of keyring weight or drops, and it reads fine at room temperature but acts up when it gets warm or gets jostled.

Q: I lost my only key to my 2010 DTS. Can a key still be made without one to copy?

Yes. All-keys-lost on this vehicle is a standard job. I don't need an existing key to cut a new one. The blade can be determined by decoding your door lock or by pulling the key code associated with your vehicle. Once the key is cut, the transponder gets enrolled to the immobilizer. The old key, wherever it is, gets wiped from the system so it can't be used to start the car.

2010 Cadillac DTS Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

He got back from a business trip, picked up his 2010 Cadillac DTS from the parking lot, and it wouldn't cooperate. The key turned, the car unlocked, but starting it was another story. He was standing in a lot in Camarillo with his luggage and a car that wasn't going anywhere.

The dealer could fit him in Thursday. It was Tuesday afternoon.

He called me, and I was out there within 40 minutes. He had one working key but wanted a spare cut and programmed on the spot so he wasn't in this situation again. I cut a replacement key to the vehicle and ran the transponder enrollment through my programming tool. Tested ignition, tested the spare, both working.

He asked what the dealer would have charged. I kept it vague because honestly the gap speaks for itself when you hear the number he saved. More than that, he had a working backup key in his hand before dinner instead of waiting two days and arranging a ride.

The job wasn't dramatic. That's the point. He needed a key, I made it, we were both done in under an hour.

How long does a 2010 Cadillac DTS key replacement take?▼

For this vehicle, plan on roughly 20 to 40 minutes once I'm at your car. The DTS uses a transponder turn-key setup, so the job is cutting the blade to your vehicle and enrolling the chip so the immobilizer accepts it. There's a relearn cycle built into the process, but it doesn't take long.
