2024 Cadillac XT6 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A guy from Rose Park called me on a Tuesday morning. He was parked near the channel trail, about to head to work, and his 2024 XT6 just sat there.
The start button would light up, the dash would flicker awake, and then nothing. No crank, no go. He said the key-not-detected warning had shown up a few times over the past week but always cleared itself, so he figured it was a fluke.
It was not a fluke. It was the fob telling him something was wrong in the only way it could.
When I got there, I popped the fob open. The CR2032 read low on my tester. Low enough to fool the passive entry sensors into thinking the key was present sometimes, but not low enough to power a clean rolling-code handshake at start. That inconsistency is exactly why those intermittent warnings kept clearing. Enough juice for proximity, not enough for the full authentication sequence.
Fresh battery, confirmed contact integrity, closed it back up. Walked the handles, tested passive lock and unlock from a few feet out, pressed the start button with the fob on his person versus on the seat. Everything came back solid.
He had already looked up dealer availability out of curiosity. The nearest Cadillac store had told him a same-day appointment was not guaranteed and they would need to diagnose the system first, which sounded like a few hours minimum and a bill before they even confirmed the cause. He was genuinely surprised when I closed up the fob and said we were done.
Sometimes the repair is small. The diagnostic is what matters.
