Got called to the Oxnard Performing Arts Center parking structure. A 2025 XT6 owner locked her only smart key in the trunk while loading equipment after a show.
The HYQ2ES has that proximity sensor that's supposed to prevent this, but she'd set the fob down inside a metal case. Shielded the signal perfectly. The hatch closed, doors locked, and there she stood with no way in.
I decoded the driver door lock through the keyhole, picked it open, then used my Autel IM608 to program a new HYQ2ES. The 2025 models need Security Gateway Module authentication, which takes about 12 minutes of module communication. While we waited, she told me how the dealer wanted her to flatbed it in for service the next morning.
Cut the emergency blade on my Condor Mini Plus using the door lock code I'd already pulled. Synced all five buttons: lock, unlock, hatch, remote start, panic. Then we tested the passive entry on all four doors to make sure the new fob worked everywhere.
She got back into her XT6 in under an hour, right there at the venue. The dealer's solution would have meant missing her next performance. Sometimes the difference isn't just price.
